In this setting, two new forms of future city emerge: floating cities and urban rewilding. They are often seen as plausible geoengineering ideas in response to the climate crisis. In my worldbuilding, some coastal cities are researching and making decisions around more extreme versions of these two urban forms. Projects based on this setting often focus on the process of research, testing, and decision-making by the citizens. The worldbuilding, as science fiction or speculative fiction, becomes a generative backdrop for the work, stimulating and containing various concepts and narratives.
